Only last month we managed to get our hands on the Jaguar XE and despite our preconceptions fell in love with what was an amazing car. Now, fast forward a month and Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division, true to form of creating mad cap projects has launched something exceptionally special. A far cry from a souped up XE or rival to the M3. This is no XE Sport. Their new pet project offers remarkable supercar performance from a typically executive saloon.
SVO has a tradition of turning ordinary Jaguars into something truly special. Project 7 saw the them create a beast based on the F-Type with remarkable performance and a price tag to match at nearly £130,000. However, forget that. Their new project, following on from Project 7 boasts better agility, overly extreme performance and their most powerful project to date. In their words “it is conceived for enthusiasts”.
The XE SV Project 8 features a highly tuned 5 litre V8 churning out over 592bhp (600PS) and made its debut at the Nurburgring Nordscheife earlier this week still under its camouflage SVO design. Full specification of this monster Jag still isn’t available until the 28th June however, we know that this 2nd Collectors Edition from SVO is limited to just 300 units. This means it will likely command a very high price that true enthusiasts are likely to part with easily.
Due to make its appearance in the UK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on the 30th June we can’t wait to get up and close with this big cat.
