French manufacturers have a history of making insane hot hatches. Theres the Renault 5 Turbo, the equally impressive Peugeot 205 T16 and the bonkers Renault Clio V6. So it would only go with out saying that this years Geneva Motor Show would like have an insane French hatchback amongst the ranks of models on display.
The Geneva Motor Show displayed an array of concept cars and most notably it seems that manufacturers see electric as the way of the future for there new models. The problem is many see the electric age as dull and underperforming, only embraced by tree huggers. However, Renault has proved that isn’t the case with their latest model. The Renault Zoe E-Sport.
130mph in under 10 seconds which is just as quick as a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S
The new Renault Zoe E-Sport joins the ranks of insane French hatches with its impressive stats. Packed with not one but two electric motors the Zoe E-Sport makes 456bhp with 472lb-ft of torque meaning this pocket rocket can achieve 0-62mph in under 3.2 seconds. Thats as quick as a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S. Whats really impressive however is the Zoe E-Sport’s sprint to 130mph in under 10 seconds that makes this little car seriously quick.
The Renault Zoe E-Sport isn’t just all power, under the body is incredible amounts of technology from it’s tubular steel chassis and incredible amounts of carbon fibre and kevlar which help keep the Zoe’s weight down to just 1,400KG. To help keep the power down the E-Sport is all wheel drive with four different driving modes helping to adjust power delivery.
Notably to help with the Zoe’s handling and stopping power the E-Sport has a wide track with massive 20 inch wheels housing suitably large disc brakes and Ohlin suspension. Finished in the Renault Formula E car ‘Satin Blue’ the Renault Zoe is definitely one of a long line of insane French hot hatches.
